Jessica L. Smith

36, of Danville, Indiana passed away October 25 ^th , 2020. Jessica was a 2002 Honors graduate from Ben Davis High School where she participated in the Marching Band. She furthered her education by completing her Associates Degree in Applied Science from Ivy Tech Community College.

Jess began her career at Duke Energy in 2006 as a Customer Service Representative. She quickly became involved in special projects and leadership opportunities. Expanding her knowledge and natural leadership abilities, Jessica advanced to a Team Lead position in the Call Center.

Jess's most recent career move took her to Duke Energy's Distribution Control Center where she worked as an Operator; dispatching crews to serve customers.

Jessica's greatest accomplishment occurred in 2015 when she became a mother to Colton Lee. He was her absolute pride and joy. Jessica shared her love of music, camping, and being outdoors with Colton.

Jessica will forever be known for her hilarious sense of humor, boisterous laugh and her kind heart.

Jessica was the spitting image of her Daddy, and at the end of the day, always knew her Momma was her biggest fan.

Jessica is survived by her son, Colton Lee Smith; husband, David Smith; parents, Martin and Sherri Engel; brother, David C. Engel; Grandfather, Jerry Brinkman; several aunts, uncles and cousins; partner in crime and best friend, Cori Gasper and several other friends and loved ones.

Jessica was greeted in Heaven by her Grandmother, Thelma Brinkman; Grandparents, Carl and Martha Engel and her childhood dog Lucky.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday, November 2 ^nd at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, Indiana, with funeral services there at 11am Tuesday November 3 ^rd with visitation starting at 10am. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Indiana.
