Obituary

Joan Turnbull Collier passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at the age of 88.

She was born on March 18th, 1935, to LeRoy & Elsie Turnbull, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she grew up and met her husband of 70 years (as of May 9th of this year) Frank Collier.

She was the mother of 6, Dan (Susan Culbertson), Steve (Brenda Decker), Michael (Renae Rishel), Kristin Underwood (Earl), Theresa Zimmermann (Joe), and Scott, Grandmother of 15, Great Grandmother of 22, and even a Great-Great Grandmother of 1!

She was an amazing, loving mom, and a woman of many talents, having been the popcorn girl at the Janet Theater in St. Louis in 1951, where she first met Frank.  She was a seamstress, an Indycar race team hospitality coordinator, Lew White Tours tour guide, a barista, award winning chili chef, and an artist beyond compare in the mediums of paint, candle making, macramé, plastic canvas, stained glass, decoupage, dolls, and more.

She was loved by all who knew her during her life, including friends and care givers at Traditions at North Willow since Frank passed in January of 2022.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm Sat. July 1 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral mass at St. Malachy Catholic Church at 12:30 pm.  Burial will be in St. Malachy West Cemetery.
