JoAnn Hunt, 84, went home to be with her Savior on June 5th, 2025, surrounded by family.
JoAnn was born on July 3rd, 1940, in Columbia, KY, to Carrie and Barnett Chapman. She graduated from Princeton High School, where she was a skilled majorette with the high school band.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and carried her love for Jesus throughout her entire life. She fiercely loved the Lord and loved to study and teach the Bible. She served passionately as a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and later, Zionsville Fellowship Church. She taught her family and friends the love of Jesus in her words and her everyday life.
JoAnn married Douglas Lee Hunt on December 12th, 1970. She was a devoted wife and mother who cared for and served her husband and two children, James and Leigh, passionately. She was the proud Nana of three grandchildren and later, three great-grandchildren.
JoAnn was an artist at heart who loved to paint, decorate, and cook for her family. Her pecan pie became legendary at family get-togethers, and there were often battles over who would get the last piece. She was an avid reader and loved spending time in God's creation, enjoying birds, flowers, and, for many years, a beautiful backyard vegetable garden.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Doug, children James Nossett (Lori) and Leigh Van Horn; grandchildren Michael Nossett (Grace), Ashley Hunt (Braden), and Grace Van Horn; great-grandchildren Rylie and Ella Rose Hunt, and Parker Nossett; and sister Els Stone (Charles).
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 11th, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, with the funeral beginning at noon. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Whitestown, after the service.
Though we grieve the loss of a beloved wife, mom, Nana, great-grandma, sister, and friend, we rejoice that she is happy and whole with her Savior, and we look forward to the day when we are all reunited in Heaven.
