John G. Bishop

85, of Brownsburg, passed away on March 21st, 2026. John was born in Indianapolis to parents Charles Harold and Marie Bishop on February 19th, 1941.

Fresh out of high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. John then went on to work for the Indianapolis Fire Department for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of St. Malachy Catholic Church, as well as the Brownsburg American Legion 331.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife Nancysue Bishop. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Steven) Bruess, Juliana Bishop, Joanne (Brian) Shaw, and Jerilyn (Bret) Sinclair; grandchildren Matthew (Kasie) Bruess, Sarah (Chris Peterson) Bruess, Emily (Matthew Davis) Bruess, Spencer (Baylee) Shaw, Harrison Shaw, Grant Shaw, and Catherine (Jeremy) Coffman.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 27th from 10 am to 12 noon at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. A mass will follow at 12:30 pm at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 9833 E CR 750 N, Brownsburg, IN. John will then be laid to rest in St. Malachy North Cemetery.
