John Franklin Girt
71, Brownsburg, passed away Aug. 23, 2012. Son of John Frederick and Mary I. Girt of Brownsburg, John graduated in 1959 from Brownsburg High School and was an All Star Basketball point's leader. He served at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He attended Oklahoma University on a football scholarship. John loved golf, politics, and NASCAR. He also worked for ABC Sports covering races. John is survived by his wife, Sandra Finnell Girt, two sisters and brother-in-laws, Donna and Jim Jones, and Diane and Gene Skillrud. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm Sat. Aug. 25 in Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 2 pm. Burial will be in Brownsburg Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
