John Eric Jackson, 85, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away on July 4, 2023. He was born on July 25, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Dr. John Kenneth Jackson and Gwendolyn Jackson.
John is survived by his loving wife, Adrienne; daughter Cindy (Larry) Ringer of Lee's Summit, Missouri; granddaughter Ashley (Michael) Donley and great-granddaughter Mika of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; grandson Jason Ringer of Kansas City, Missouri; and sister Martha Kaiser of Milford, Ohio.
John and Adrienne were high school sweethearts, marrying in 1960 and moving from their hometown of Aurora, Indiana, to Indianapolis and later Brownsburg. They celebrated 63 years of marriage this March. They enjoyed traveling, spending 28 winters in Bonita Springs, Florida and exploring over 50 countries.
John was a lifelong learner and loved to share his stories with others. He was known for his inquisitive nature and his passion for knowledge. John was a proud alumnus of Purdue University, where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1958. He continued on to receive his master's degree from the University of Michigan.
John dedicated his career to Union Carbide/Praxair, where he worked as an engineer for 34 years. His expertise and dedication made him a valuable asset to the company, including receiving 17 patents. He retired in 1993 as the Director of Technology, Union Carbide Coating Service Corporation.
Outside of work, John had a variety of hobbies. He was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, where he enjoyed showing his restored 1938 Ford at events and parades. He also enjoyed keeping up with finance, investing, and technology, always staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements.
John was a 13 year lung cancer survivor. He continued to enjoy spending time with family and friends despite living with only one lung.
John Eric Jackson will be remembered for his passion for learning, his dedication to his career, and his love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, kindness and storytelling that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held July 7th from 4pm to 7pm at Matthews Mortuary, 690 E 56th St, Brownsburg, IN 46112. Services will be held July 8th at 1pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 575 W Northfield Dr., Brownsburg, IN 46112. Private burial to follow in Aurora, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church in his honor.
