John Lubavs
age 82, Noblesville, IN passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born August 26, 1939, in Limbazi, Latvia, the son of late Arnold and Elise Lubavs. He immigrated to the United States to Bagley, Wisconsin. In April 1955 he received his American citizenship. He proudly and courageously served his country in the United States Army for 26 years, retiring on August 9, 1983. He then went on to work as a consultant for Vinnell Corporation and continued his consultant work until his health declined this past year.
John was hard working and loved spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He has touched
countless lives. He had a passion for life and a fabulous sense of humor. Everyone around him was constantly smiling or laughing. He never met a stranger. Every person in the world to him was just a friend he had not met. He always saw the good in people.
John is survived by his loving wife, Zena (Liepnieks) Lubavs. John was preceded in death by his brothers,
Andy and Atis Lubavs, and his parents. Services for John will be Monday June 6 at 12 noon at Matthews Mortuary, 690 E. 56th Street, Brownsburg, Indiana, 46112, with visitation starting at 11am until the time of service. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 435 West Troy Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Latvian Community Center. John, we loved you so dearly; you will be truly missed. You will be forever in our hearts.
