The always smiling John Money entered heaven on September 17, 2026 surrounded by love and care at Story Cottage with his family, Suzi, Sean and Jen, by his side. John was born in Brownsburg, Indiana on November 16th, 1946 to Beatrice and Marvin Money, and was an incredible younger brother to Janice Chilewski. John was a proud Brownsburg Bulldog graduate who loved being with his high school friends up through the day he left this world. John loved sports, which was evident in his high school athletic career playing football, basketball, track and his beloved volleyball which he played for Ball State University. John welcomed a son, Sean Money, during his time at Ball State and left to serve our country as a postal carrier for the Army.

After he served our country, he completed corporate training with UPS and Leeway Motor Freight beginning a lifelong love of trucking and connecting with others. He married Kathy Kiley Money and rekindled his love of horses in 1979. They owned, showed, and bred Saddlebred horses for Wind Drift Farm for many years while building Santana Express, a trucking company, and rental property business.

They passed their love of horses to their daughter, Jen Money-Brady and her family, John and Katy, who continue to own and operate Wind Drift Farm.

John enjoyed many careers after retiring from Santana Express including Remax of Zionsville realtor, Stoops Freightliner, Butler Bulldawg Ultra Fan, Brebeuf Jesuit High School State Champion golf coach, Brownsburg High School super fan, and Papa and nanny to his granddaughter, Katy Money-Brady.

John met the love of his life, Suzi Harrison Moeschl, in 2009, and cherished every moment he could laugh, play cards, and travel with her. Their love was evident in their home when friends and family visited. John spent his second retirement playing golf daily including two holes-in-one in 2014 and 2019, reading voraciously, and enjoying Venice, Florida with Suzi. John moved back home again in Indiana in 2025 and immediately made friends and welcomed old friends with his smile, jokes, and daily walks.

John's impact and love are felt by his family who will miss him greatly:

Money, Jen Money-Brady (John Brady), grandsons, Cody (Courtney) and Jake Money, granddaughter, Katy Money-Brady, great-grandchildren, Payton (EJ) Thomas, Landon Dinkel, Rylan Money, Marshall and Marlee Money, great-great granddaughter Sylvie Jane, sister Janice Chilewski, niece Melanie, and many great nieces and nephews as well as incredible friends like Ed Thornburg, Bill Fields, and Amy L. Money who made his last year of life rich with visits and lunches together.

Many thanks to his first caregiver, Suzi Moeschl, and current, incredible caregivers, especially Shada, Crystal, Jeanna, Amanda, Kylene and Nichole at Story Cottage Meridian Hills, Candice and Seth at Carey Grove, and his amazing nurse, Chandler with Paradigm Hospice.

John loved nature, especially birds and Loudmouth bright clothes, so if you want to remember John, look for an Indigo bunting or wear a bright shirt in his honor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in John’s honor on Friday, October 9th at 6pm with Visitation at 5:30pm in the Brebeuf Jesuit Chapel, 2801 W 86th St., Indianapolis, IN 46268. A Celebration of Life will be hosted in Venice, Florida in Winter 2026.
