John Philip Hall
John Philip Hall, 80, died April 30, 2026 after a valiant and admirable fight with cancer.
Phil was born on March 15, 1946 to Dallas and Aileen Hall in Scottsburg, Indiana. Two sisters, Ann and Kathy, proceeded him in death while his sister, Joan Mace (Naab, IN) survives.
He attended and graduated from Marian College where he met his wife, Erika Augspols. They were married on August 31, 1968 and modeled for their family what a dedicated and loving marriage looks like.
Phil and Erika had two sons, Mike (Melissa) Hall of Brownsburg, IN and Marc (Rachel) Hall of Noblesville, IN. Phil was a frequent coach for his sons’ baseball and basketball teams and could often be found helping them practice their catching, pitching, shooting, and defense.
Phil was grandpa to Megan (Javier) Atanacio-Hall and Matthew (Emma) Hall as well as Morgan (Corbin) Hancock and Mallory Hall. He attended many school functions, continued coaching his grandchildren’s sports teams, and proudly supported each with his consistent love and presence. Being Grandpa Hall will forever be one of Phil’s greatest legacies.
Phil was great grandfather to Christopher, Melany, Milo and Misael and two who are on the way.
Phil was a man who put family first. He was kind, faithful and servant hearted. His absence will be felt deeply.
He worked at Inland Container Company for over 50 years. Phil was active in several organizations at St. Malachy’s Church including the Catholic Youth Organization and the social and recreation committees.
Phil’s absence on this earth will be felt by many including his sister, sisters and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews as well as by his college roommates and his neighbors. He was admired by so many.
A funeral service will be held at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg, IN on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 3 pm. Viewing will take place from 1-3 pm on the day of service.
Donations in honor of Phil and his love for sports can be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research at https://www.v.org/how-to-help/honors-and-memorials/.
