Judith (Judy) Horton, 80, of Brownsburg, passed away on August 20, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Judy was born on September 3, 1941 to Homer Bailey and Mellissia Poynter Rood. After graduating from Madison Heights High School in 1958, she went on to study education at Butler University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree. Judy spent many years teaching in Indiana and Florida, positively impacting the lives of her students.
While attending Butler University, Judy met her future husband Darrel Horton. Judy and Darrel went on to have two children, Jennifer Adams and Jeff Horton.
Judy was a loving mother and grandmother. Throughout her busy life, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and traveling with her husband. Judy treasured her lifelong friendship with Jean Lee, where they raised children together and shared many memories. In retirement, Judy and her husband became licensed blackjack dealers where they enjoyed working corporate events raising money for charitable organizations.
She is survived by her spouse, Darrel Horton and children Jennifer Adams and Jeff Horton; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Adams, Jason Adams, Adarah Vossoughi-Horton and Tirajeh Vossoughi-Horton; brother George Rood; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved (dog) Taz. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Mellissia Poynter Rood and stepfather George Rood I; and sister, Vickie Brummet.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
