Karla Kay
Olson
December 11, 1960 – November 14, 2024
Karla Kay Olson, age 63, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 14, 2024, while an inpatient at a hospital near Fishers, IN. Born on December 11, 1960, in Bemidji, Minnesota, she grew up as the youngest of five, bringing laughter and love to everyone she met.
Though she never had children of her own, Karla embraced the role of the fun-loving aunt to over 30 nieces and nephews, delighting each one with $5 in a birthday card year after year. She was a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan who cheered passionately for her team, often accompanied by her beloved cat, Tiger. Karla was an avid reader, found joy in puzzles and creating connections with friends in both Wenatchee, Washington, and Noblesville, Indiana, spreading smiles wherever she went.
Adorned with the nickname "Mascot," Karla's humor and light-hearted spirit had the power to brighten any room. Her life was marked by the deep friendships she cherished and the simple pleasures she adored.
Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Ardith Olson; her brother, Lee Olson; her sister, Deb (Olson) Clark; her nephew, Brian Clark; and her niece, Laura (Towner) Mavridoglou. She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Steve) McDonald of Fishers, IN; her brother, Kevin (Barb) Olson of Park Rapids, MN; sister-in-law Colleen (Auger) Olson of Sun City, AZ; and a large extended family who adored her.
Honoring Karla's preference for simplicity and love of bringing people together, there will be no formal funeral service to interrupt holiday travel. Instead, we invite friends and family to remember her on December 11, her birthday, by raising a glass and playing her favorite Beatles tune, "When I'm 64." She almost made it.
To honor Karla's enduring love for animals, contributions can be made to your local Humane Society or any charity dear to your heart. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the joy, warmth, and unwavering spirit she brought into our lives, knowing she will forever be missed and fondly remembered.
