Obituary

Karlene Kay Schmidt 71, of Avon, Indiana went home to walk in the garden with her Lord and Savior on June 24, 2012. She was born April 6, 1941 in Randolph, Kansas to the late Karl and Helen Axelton. Karlene married Robert Schmidt on May 30, 1959 in Manhattan, Kansas and moved to Indiana shortly thereafter. A beautiful woman, she touched the lives of many. She was a devoted member of the Avon United Methodist Church for 46 years, a volunteer at IU West Hospital, a medical transcriptionist at Mid-West Neurological for 20 years, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and Miss Merchant's Bank, 1960. Her interests included, gardening, quilting, needlework, bicycling, playing piano, and reading. She is survived by her husband, Robert; her boys, Eric, Thor (Diana), Dane (Kim), Kyle (Tammy), and Raud (Kandy); her grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley), Kristen, Brenton, Nichole, Kassey, Trevor, Levi, and William; her great grandchildren, Avyanna, and Jacob; and her brother Glen. Visitation will be held at the Avon United Methodist Church, 6850 E. US Highway 36, on Tues. June 26 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be at the church 10am Wed. June 27, followed by burial at the West Ridge Park Cemetery. Pastor Karen Devaisher will officiate the services.
