Kent was 90 when he passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2021, of natural causes at his residence in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a brave and loving Christian gentleman and will be missed by his family and friends. Kent was born in in his mother's home in Dunlap, Indiana, June 12, 1931. He graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, August 1953. He entered the U.S. Air Force upon graduation and served from 1953 – 1958 with a Rank of First Lieutenant. His ratings: Pilot, Guidance Officer and served as Senior Guidance Officer and Assistant Detachment Commander of a 50-man missile guidance detachment in Germany.
1958-1960 Kent worked at Bendix Corporation, Missile Division, Mishawaka, Indiana as a Missile Systems Engineer. Analyzed missile flight test data for the Talos, a 28-foot long surface to air defensive anti-aircraft missile developed for the Navy.
1960-1962 Kent attended Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He graduated with a Masters of Business Administration Degree, August 1962.
1963-1969 Kent worked at CTS Corporation, Elkhart, Indiana, a manufacturer of electronic components for the consumer and automotive industries.
1969-1978 Kent joined Premier Mfg. Company, Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, a small van body manufacturer and truck equipment distributor; started as Controller, became Vice President, then President.
1979-1980 Kent joined Honeywell Computer Division as a Marketing Representative selling mainframe computers.
1980-2007 Kent worked for Information Dynamics Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, as a Systems Analyst.
Kent is survived by his wife Gudrun Carlson in Indianapolis; son Kurt (Margaret) Carlson, granddaughter Olivia Carlson in Indianapolis; his brother Norman Carlson in Elkhart, Indiana and two nephews: Mark Carlson and David Carlson in Elkhart and two nieces: Jennifer (Gene) Kindle in Elkhart, and Lora Horning in Ada, Oklahoma; three nephews by his deceased sister Donna (George) Johnson, formerly of Niles, Michigan: Robert Johnson in Niles, Glenn Johnson in Buchanan, and Phillip Johnson in Niles; one nephew and one niece by his deceased sister Janis (Rene) Torres, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana: Ian Torres in Chicago, Illinois and Monica Torres in Denver, Colorado.
Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Saturday, September 25 at Matthews Mortuary, 690 East 56th Street, Brownsburg, Indiana, with a brief memorial service at 1pm.
