Kimberly Jo Dirks, 62, Avon, Indiana died January 11, 2016. Graveside services were held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Pike County, Indiana. Kim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 5, 1953 to Joseph and Rowena (Chesser) Kays. She graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in 1976. She was employed at Detroit Diesel Allison General Motors for a number of years before she stopped working outside the home to raise and take care of her family. Kim was a member of the church of Christ. Kim is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dennis Dirks, whom she married April 29, 1978. She is also survived by her mother, Rowena Kays, of Bloomington, Indiana, brother, Mark (Kim) Kays of Canton, Michigan, daughter, Courtney (Nathan) Hulsey of Thompsons Station, Tennessee, son, Jeremy (Rachel) Dirks of Clovis, California, as well as her nephews and grandson. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Kays. Kim was most happy while caring for others, and was a great caregiver to many during her life.
