Lana “Candy” M. Ahern
75, of Brownsburg, passed away on August 17th, 2026. Lana, better known as Candy, was born in Indianapolis to her parents John and Jean (Pierson) Coleman on May 31st, 1951. Throughout her life, Candy extended herself into many different roles and positions. Her compassion and joy for helping others shone through her time as a patient care assistant at Riley Children’s Hospital. There, she went beyond her custodial duties and loved to take care of children and infants. Candy also enjoyed her time working in sterilization at the IUPUI dental school. She ultimately loved to entertain and to make others smile, and this was represented by Candy’s past as a loveable clown. In recent years, Candy was a dedicated member of Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg, where she attended alongside her husband, Joe.
Candy was preceded in death by her parents John and Jean; siblings John and Ladonna Coleman. She is survived by her beloved husband Joe Ahern; children JoLynn (David) Hammond, Tamera (David) Hall, Cathy (Alan) Moorman, Joseph (Marcie) Ahern; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; and her cherished dog, Holly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24th from 11 am to 1 pm at Matthews Mortuary, with funeral services to follow at 1 pm. Candy will then be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
