Lawrence J. Sutton

91, of Avon, passed away on May 8th, 2026. Lawrence was born in Indianapolis to his parents George and Theresa (Rejko) Sutton on May 30th, 1934. After high school, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Park College at the University of St. Louis. Lawrence led a 39 year career as a respected aeronautical engineer with Naval Avionics before retiring in 1997. Outside of his career, Lawrence was known as a talented woodworker who shared his craft with family and friends alike. He also loved to work on cars. Lawrence and his wife were longtime, dedicated members of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years Nancy Sutton; parents George and Theresa; brother George Sutton. He is survived by his 8 children: Laura (Dwayne) Leis, Kimberly (Thomas) Welch, Kevin (Lynn) Sutton, Lisa (Geoffrey) Robinson, Christopher (Colleen) Sutton, John (Sherri) Sutton, Donna (Benjamin) Zobrist, and Julie (James) Jones. Lawrence also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th from 11 am to 1 pm at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E Main St, Plainfield, IN 46168, with a funeral mass to follow at 1 pm. Lawrence will then be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
