Lawrence "Larry" W. Hartley
departed this earth to be with his heavenly father on March 25, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy, who he considered his helpmate. Proverbs 18:22 states: "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord". Other survivors include daughter Tanya, son Larry P., grandson/son Brandon; grandsons Tyler and Austin Hartley; brothers Mike (Nancy), Eric (Glenda deceased), Gene deceased (Ann), sister Phyllis Hutchison of Emsworth, PA and other extended family. Larry served his country from 1959-1962 in the US Army with last posting being the 14th Psychological Warfare Bn. He was employed for 41 years at Eli Lilly and Co. doing basic research in Pharmacology, Immunology and Cardiovascular Departments. Much of his adult life he was involved in volunteer work including the following: set up the Hendricks County Volunteer Blood Donor CIRBC program and served as County Coordinator for several years; was past president of the Hendricks County Chapter of the American Cancer Society; past clinical associate, trainer and supervisor for the Crisis Line of the Marion County Mental Health; past member of the Julian Center Board of Directors; past elder of the Brownsburg Christian Church (now Connection Pointe); past commander of the Brownsburg American Legion Post 331; and served several times on the Board of Directors of the Sugar Bush Condo Assn. Larry had strong appreciation of family, friends and neighbors who encouraged him through his battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Visitation will be 11 am to 1 pm Wed. March 29, at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1 pm. Burial will be in Brownsburg Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Larry's name to Connection Pointe, Brownsburg American Legion Post 331, Wounded Warriors, Sheltering Wings or the charity of one's choice.
