Obituary

Lena "Bea" Cox Sanford, age 98, Brownsburg, passed away April 12, 2014. She was born Feb. 27, 1916 in Hensley Station, KY. She grew up on a farm and would sing at church services. Bea worked at Brown & Williamson in Louisville, until she met and married her late husband Ernest Sanford. She was an active member of the New Testament Christian Church, Greenville, loved to sing in the choir, and was active in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed taking care of the home, canning vegetables, crossword puzzles, listening to gospel music, and traveling with Ernest to Canada, Louisiana, Atlantic City, and New York. She also liked to watch baseball games and her favorite team was the Cincinnati Reds. Bea and Ernest were married 59 years before he passed away. She was survived by her son Richard E. Sanford, and was the proud grandmother of Lori Nossett and Shannon Collins and great grandmother of Michael and Ashley Nossett, all of Brownsburg, IN. Visitation will be 9-11am Thurs. April 17 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with graveside service at 2pm at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Testament Christian Church, 7769 Voyles Rd., Greenville, IN 47124.
