Dr. Lester E. Tweedle

Dr. Lester E. Tweedle passed away on January 11, 2021.  Dr. Tweedle was born on July 10, 1930, in Hammond, IN, and graduated from Hammond High School.  Four years later in 1952, he graduated from DePauw University with a major in math.  After graduation, he married Jane Black from Hammond, IN, and joined the US Air Force as an officer.  During his military service, he attended Penn State to earn his meteorology degree in order to become an Air Force Meteorologist during the Korean War.

After his service, he accepted a position as a meteorologist at the Indianapolis airport while attending the Indiana University Dental School.  He moved to Brownsburg and established his dental practice in 1960, practicing in Brownsburg for 44 years and retiring in 2004.

Ed served as the IU Dental Alumni President, coached Little League Baseball for years, and was highly involved in his church, teaching the high school Sunday school class for 9 years, as well as hosting many Bible studies in his home. He was a man of integrity, who always desired to do what was right.  He cared for people and had a gift for making them feel comfortable and accepted.

He is survived by his wife Jane of 68 years, three children, Pamala Ritz, Tim Tweedle (Betsy) and Julie Fischer (Jerry), eight grandchildren, Thatcher Ritz (Lauren), Liesl Ritz, Alex Ritz, Marta Ritz, Eric Tweedle (Taylor), Ryan Tweedle (Ashley), Jake Fischer (Taylor), Jana Fischer and four great-grandchildren.

Dr. Tweedle loved his patients, his neighbors, and his community, but most of all, he loved his wife and family.  He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Thursday January 14 at Connection Pointe Christian Church, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1pm.  Interment will follow in the Lizton K of P Cemetery.  In compliance with current regulations and restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and observe social distancing.
