Obituary

Linda Caroline McCallon, Heaven gained a true angel when Linda Caroline McCallon passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Linda may have lost the battle with the evil known as cancer, but she won the war as she joined her Lord in a glorious place. Born on February 23, 1951 to Morris and the late, Gilda Cohen, Linda was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was a spitfire from the start and her love, energy and passion shined in everything she did. Linda married her prince charming, Jerry McCallon, on June 4, 2009. For 9 years, they enjoyed a fairy tale romance filled with vacations to Mexico, a shared love for horses and a devotion to family. Linda cherished every member of her family which included her children, Dalea (Jason) Badami, David West and Derek (Stacy) West; siblings, Sheldon (Tina), Ted (Linda) and Michelle Cohen; bonus-children, Mike (Tammy) and Terry (Linda) McCallon, 13 grandchildren and her horses, Buddy and Pride. Linda worked at ADESA for the last 16 years where she held every position imaginable at the ADESA Indianapolis location before transferring to the Corporate office. ADESA Marketing was honored to have her grace, dedication and auction expertise for the last 5 years. She genuinely loved going to work every day and brought joy to everyone who had the privilege of working with her. She had a gracious heart and gave freely of her time and energy to countless charitable organizations including the Jameson Camp Women's Auxiliary, United Way of Central Indiana and JDRF. While Linda had many titles including Nina to her grandkids, Mom to her children and Scooter to Jerry, the most frequently used title was Friend. Linda loved every person she ever met and always looked for the goodness in people. Linda was a hugger and didn't know a stranger. She loved to laugh until she cried or cry until she laughed. Her kind heart and gentle spirit made her easy to love and that will live on forever. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 31st at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm with services starting at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) which was near and dear to Linda's heart.
