Lola Jean Endres, "The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they treat animals." - Unknown
Born on December 16th, 1954, Lola J. Endres (61), passed away on the evening of May 8th, 2016 in her Brownsburg home. She leaves behind her loving and devoted family including daughter, Lindsay Birge (Dustin); son, Lyle Endres; brother, Steve Totten (Vicki); and sister, Lana Edwards along with many extended family members who loved her dearly. She had a special bond with her niece, Kim Dollard (Bill, Kaecee & Chelsea). She also leaves behind her beloved Morgan horse, Ben and dogs, Molly and Meeko. Lola grew up in Indianapolis, and graduated from George Washington High School in 1972. She worked for WellPoint (formerly Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield) for 42 years and was planning to retire in December of 2016. Lola's love of animals, especially horses, began at an early age. Though her mother and father never owned horses, she was determined to find a way to have one of her own. She worked for McDonald's at a young age to pay for boarding and the care of her very first horse, Bright Angel. From then on, she would never live a day without a horse of her own. The horse most special to her was Boldayr Amberina (Brina), whom she owned for 32 years. She spent countless hours in the saddle trail riding at Brown County State Park, her favorite place. She would later share her love of trail riding with her family, (ex-husband Edward D. Endres and her children). Her life was dedicated to her children and her animals. She spent many days and countless hours at horse shows and basketball games with both Lindsay and Lyle. She was an avid Ohio State basketball and football fan. She was able to enjoy and share her favorite hobbies with Lindsay and Lyle and they continue to share the same passion for these hobbies as she did. Lola was not only an animal lover, but an advocate and voice for horses, dogs and cats throughout her entire life. Always fighting for their rights and well-being, she found joy in volunteering for numerous rescue and animal welfare groups. She helped raise thousands of dollars for H.E.A.R.T (Helping Every Animal Receive Treatment) and volunteered with (and adored) Misty Eyes Animal Center of Brownsburg. She also loved helping Little Bit of Heaven in Martinsville. Lola spent her final day (Mother's Day) with Lindsay, Dustin, Lyle and Rachel in Brown County, the place she loved most. They had a wonderful day and were blessed with quality family time and lots of laughter. Lola led a beautiful life and left the world a much better place. She will be missed by many, including her four-legged friends. Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Mon. May 16 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with memorial services at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Misty Eyes Animal Shelter or H.E.A.R.T. She expressed these wishes long before her death. We appreciate your kindness.
