LYLE KEITH EDENBURN
Lyle Keith Edenburn passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, at IU West Hospital in Avon, Indiana where he had been a patient a short time. He was 94 years old. He had resided in Brownsburg, Indiana since 1976. He was born during the depression on June 18, 1928, on a farm outside Oakwood, Illinois to Alma (Alverson) and Harry Edenburn. He lived in both Illinois and Indiana during his youth, graduating in 1945 from Pinnell High School in Boone County, Indiana. On his 18th birthday, Lyle enlisted in the Army Air Corp (now Air Force) and joined the World War II Occupation Forces in Okinawa, Japan. He attended Purdue University on the GI Bill after the war, majoring in Education. While driving back from classes he offered a young lady a ride in the rain. That ride turned into a 50-year marriage and six children. Lyle married Alice Ann Jackson on October 21, 1954, in West Lafayette, Indiana. Together they traveled around Indiana with Lyle climbing up the education system ladder. From PE teacher, coach, math teacher, head of the math department, assistant principle, principle, assistant superintendent, all while working on advanced degrees of a masters and a doctorate in education at Purdue University.
Lyle is preceded in death by both his parents, his brother William Dale, his sister Florence Leone Tyler, his loving wife Alice, his daughter Amy Elizabeth Furry (Stephen) and his son Daniel Jackson Edenburn (Deana). Surviving is a son David Lee Edenburn (Corina), a daughter Ann Marie Stamps (Greg), a daughter Amanda Jane Thomas (Paul) and a son Andrew Keith Edenburn. Also surviving are six grandchildren (Logan, Lucas, Austin, Lauren, Abigail, and Katherine) and four great-grandchildren (Makenna, Halle, Stella, and Alison) plus a boy on the way.
Lyle was an active member of the Lions Club, Calvary United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6128 in Brownsburg, Indiana where he served on the Honor Guard. Services will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church (575 W Northfield Drive, Brownsburg, IN) on Thursday September 15 with a short visitation from 9:30 am until the service at 11:00 am. Family interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brownsburg American Legion Post 331 (636 E. Main Street, Brownsburg, Indiana 46112), The Indiana State Teachers Association (150 W. Market street, Suite 900, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204), or a charity of your choice.
