Obituary

74, of Indianapolis, passed away on April 30th, 2026. She was born on February 25th, 1952, to Delbert “Pete” and Betty Peters, and was born and raised in Hobart, Indiana, where she lived until relocating to Indianapolis with her family. Lynne will be remembered above all for the way she loved—fully, generously, and without hesitation. She was a deeply caring and giving person who would do anything for the people she loved, and her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

Lynne worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Pike High School and later at Quinlan Marketing. She never met a stranger—making friends everywhere she went—and she had a gift for making people feel seen and welcomed. She was the one who remembered birthdays, checked in “just because,” and made sure no one felt alone. She especially loved crocheting, trips to the beach, and time with her grandkids, who knew her as “Mimi” and “Mamaw” and brought her endless joy. Many will remember her with yarn in her hands, working on a blanket or a fun stuffed animal for the people she loved. Family and friends will also remember her for the pumpkin pies and kolaches she made at the holidays, and for being a party-planning extraordinaire who made celebrations feel special.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Michael Dayhuff. She is survived by her beloved husband, James Dayhuff; her daughter, Rebecca (Reid) Dayhuff Matsushima; her daughter-in-law, Kelsey Dayhuff; her former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ellis; her siblings, Laura Brasovan and Delbert “Pete” Peters; her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Sloan, Maya Dayhuff, Lilian Dayhuff, Avilynn Dayhuff, Zane Matsushima, Zander Matsushima, and Zaya Matsushima; and her many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom she loved dearly.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
