Obituary

Margret E. Gossweiler

Age 89, of Brownsburg, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025. Margret was a devoted dental hygienist for many years, as well as an accomplished legal secretary during her early career. She was also an avid skier and a survivor of World War II.

Born on November 14, 1935, in Wagenfeld, Germany, Margret moved to the U.S. in May 1951 at the age of 15 to live with her aunt and uncle in Cincinnati. She graduated high school there, attended secretarial school, and worked for the prestigious law firm Nippert & Nippert. Because of her fluency in multiple languages, she played a pivotal role as a liaison for the German Consulate, helping translate depositions for reparations after WWII.

Margret met her husband, Dr. Karl Gossweiler, by chance at a bus stop in Cincinnati, and they were married in 1958. Together, they raised three sons while building a life in Brownsburg, where Karl practiced dentistry and Margret later joined him as a dental hygienist.

In 1971, Margret purchased a farm property in Brownsburg, which remains in the family today.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Ida Griese; her brother, Rudolf Griese, and sisters Helga Griese and Gertrud Wegehoeft.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dr. Karl Gossweiler; her sons, Michael, Timothy, and Kurt; and her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Storm, André, Gabby, and Konrad.

A memorial visitation to honor her life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg.
