Obituary

Marjorie "Gigi" Rondinella
84, Plainfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Jun 26, 2020. She was born in Derry, PA on June 29, 1935 to Alphonse and Mary (Carroll) Vitale. She attended Slippery Rock State College before becoming engaged to Joseph S. Rondinella. They married on June 23, 1956, moved to Danville, Indiana where they rented a small house and started a family. Gigi began playing the organ at Mary Queen of Peace church and made many lifetime friends there. Gigi, Joe and family subsequently settled into the Avon area where they raised their five children.

While caring for her children, Gigi worked part time for St Malachy Parish School, the Avon public school system, and as a wedding musician. As her children grew, she worked full time as an administrative assistant for several organizations including the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, the Indiana Osteopathic Association, and the American Academy of Osteopathy. She was a parishioner at St. Malachy Catholic Church where she served several decades as a choir member and accompanist playing the organ and piano.

Gigi found a lot of joy in recent years socializing and eating out with friends, family cookouts, reading, crossword puzzles, bringing homemade baked goods to St. Malachy's annual Lenten fish fry, and to game nights at her apartment community.

Gigi was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, sisters Gene Rose Watkins and Marie Annette Furgerson, her brother Carroll Vitale, and her grandson Joseph A. Rondinella.

She is survived by her sister Martha Ann McGinnis, her daughter Nina Rondinella and grandson Jeremy, her son Joseph A. Rondinella and granddaughter Isabella, grandsons Gabriel and Angelo, her son Nicholas Rondinella, her son Patrick (Maureen) Rondinella and grandsons Dominic and Vincent, granddaughter Gianna, and her son Anthony (Megan) Rondinella and granddaughters Alyssa, Lilliana, Veronica, Bianca, Tessa, and Kalina.

We will be celebrating Gigi during a Mass of Christian Burial at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be from 10am to 11:30am Thursday July 2, 2020 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg.
