Marsha Marie Russell, 73, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away on January 14, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Marsha was born March 24, 1949, in Indianapolis to the (late) Frank and Virginia (Garrabrant) Russell. She graduated from George Washington High School and attended Ball State University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. For many years, she worked for MSD Wayne Township and Indianapolis Public Schools as an English and reading teacher, most notably teaching at George Washington High School. Marsha enjoyed researching genealogy, quilting, watching birds, cross-stitching, reading, and traveling. She was a member of the Eagle Valley Church of Christ in Indianapolis and the Eagle Creek Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Survivors include her daughters: Elizabeth (Kelly) Austin of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Virginia "Ginny" Sorrell of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and her granddaughters: Ashley and Katelyn Austin of Brownsburg.
A visitation will be from 11am to 12pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral service at 12pm. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. In place of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in her memory at www.komen.org
