Mary "Ellen"
Boruff
December 30, 1947 – October 3, 2025
Mary "Ellen" Boruff
Mary "Ellen" Boruff, born December 30, 1947, in Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years old.
A proud graduate of Bloomfield High School, Class of 1966, Ellen later married Jeffrey Boruff on December 28, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, while he was on R&R; from Vietnam. Ellen was the steady heart of her family — a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love showed up in quiet, genuine ways every day. She was the best "Mimi" anyone could ever have, and her grandkids were truly the joy of her life. She never showed up empty-handed, always bringing each grandchild their favorite treats. Her gentle nature and calm spirit made every room feel softer just by her being there.
Ellen had a kind and caring heart. She was a good listener, quick to comfort, and never one to judge. She lived her life with compassion and grace, giving freely and always finding ways to make others feel valued. If someone needed help, she gave without hesitation.
Before her retirement in 2014, Ellen spent 25 years at Esterline Angus in Speedway, IN, and later 15 years at Aero Industries in accounts payable, where her coworkers became lifelong friends.
Faith was always her foundation. Ellen was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg and a faithful volunteer at Sheltering Wings in Danville for many years.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Boruff; her mother, Eulala Pearl Fancher; her sisters, Sally Pollack and Naomi Bell; and her infant granddaughter, Brittney Blanford, who was born on October 3, 1995. After thirty years apart, Ellen and Brittney were reunited in Heaven on October 3, 2025 — the very day they first shared, now made eternal.
She leaves behind her twin daughters, Janice (Robert) Fisher and Jennifer Blanford; her brothers, David (Jeannine) Fancher and twin brother Eldon (Geraldine) Fancher; and her sister, Alda Perry. She was also a cherished friend, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, and cousin to many, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She also leaves seven grandchildren who adored her — Alicia Hedges, Ashleigh Blanford, Austin (Torre) Honey, Eleanor (Hunter) Winslow, Samuel Blanford, Emma Blanford, and Janellyn Fisher — and seven great-grandchildren: Giovanni Mangano, Ira Honey, Lincoln Honey, Barrett Winslow, Holland Winslow, Warren Honey, and Beckett Winslow.
Along with many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews who brought her joy, Ellen also cherished the significant others of her grandchildren and the "extra grandkids" — the many friends who lovingly called her "Mimi" too and were lucky enough to be loved and spoiled by her over the years.
Ellen will also be deeply missed by her friend and neighbor, Art, whose kindness, care, and companionship brought her comfort and joy through the years.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sharmila Roy Chowdhury, Ellen's oncologist, and Physician Assistant Elyse Sharkey for their love and compassion through the years.
Ellen's gentle spirit, tireless work ethic, and selfless love will be remembered forever. Please join the family for Ellen's Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Your Venture Church, 7865 N County Road 100 E, Pittsboro, Indiana 46167.
