Mary Barbara (Sloan) Schmidt, age 88, Brownsburg, passed away Dec. 17, 2014. Born in Indianapolis on April 8, 1926 to Earl Clifford and Sarah Cecelia Sloan, she was the youngest of three sisters. She graduated from Shortridge High School where she met her future husband William J. Schmidt II. They were married on April 3, 1948 and were blessed with three children, Daniel, Michael and Kathryn. Barbara, as she was known to everyone, was a devoted mother and homemaker and very active in her church where she spent many years singing in the choir and working with a quilting group known as Helping Hands. For several years she worked in the office of the Hendricks County Auditor. She is preceded in death by her eldest son, Daniel, and her sisters Martha and Maxine. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, a son Michael Andrew (Tammy), a daughter Kathryn Ellen Waggoner (Michael), sister-in-law Rita L. Robbins (Robert), six grandchildren Danielle, Abigail, Joseph, Hayley, Lilliana and Rachel, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Sat. Dec. 20 at Christ Lutheran Church, Brownsburg, with funeral there at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Dr. Daniel F.
