Maura Alfiche of Brownsburg, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2019. She was welcomed into our Lord's awaiting arms after succumbing to numerous complications related to heart failure that befell her a year ago. She was 86. Though hardworking and strong-willed she was known for her quiet demeanor and soft spoken kindness. As a determined survivor she worked hard to help support her family at many service industry jobs and as a superb caregiver. Maura loved her pets, her Cleveland Cavaliers, and whatever team "LeBron" was playing for, and watching world-class tennis on TV. She also enjoyed her outings to Hendricks County Senior Citizens.

Born on November 14, 1932 to her father, a sugarcane plantation foreman, Candido Alfiche, and her mother, a homemaker, Maura Tabora, she enjoyed Hawaiian life in Kahuku Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Maura (Madge/Millie) was the second youngest of eight siblings: Oldest Daniel (Undo) Alfiche, Aniana (Anne) Racuya, Concita (Coonie) Ogden, Felicitas (Pumpkin) Arago, Edna Moriones, Lillian (Lee) Mahlman and Candida (Beets) Castillo, who all preceded her in death. She married Kougi Higashi and had two sons, Lawrence and Allan. She later married William Welsh and had another son, Floyd Welsh. She was widowed by both husbands.

Maura is survived by 3 sons: Lawrence (Yvonne) Higashi, Allan (Lynn) Higashi, and Floyd (Gary) Welsh; 4 grandchildren, Sabrina (Peter) Evans, Kyle (Tori) Higashi, Tanner Anderson and Kacer Anderson as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Robert, Katelyn, Greyson and Silas (Evans).

A private memorial service will be held at Maura's home on Saturday, August 3 ^rd , 2019.
