Merle Eugene Reitzler

84, Malcom, IA, aka the Pie Man, went to heaven to make pies on January21, 2024.  Merle was born on June 18, 1939 to John and Anna Reitzler in Brooklyn, IA.  After graduating from Brooklyn High School, he married Audrey Kay Shimp on Aug. 12, 1961.  Merle and Audrey had five wonderful children, Chuck, Debbie, Denny, Diane and Darla.  Merle's favorite thing was making pies for his restaurants.  After many years of farming, Merle and Audrey ran 3 restaurants expanding over 30 years.  Merle made over 50,000 pies during that time, and he was always wonderful and full of yeppers.  Merle valued serving his customer and watching his employees grow.  Merle was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna, brother Dale and his daughter Debbie.  He is survived by his wife Audrey Reitzler; children Chuck (Tammy) Reitzler, Denny (Michelle) Reitzler, Diane (Don) Lemke, Darla (Scott) Harmon; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Per his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Reitzler Family, PO Box 87, Malcom, IA 50157.
