Obituary

MICHAEL ZORETICH, JR., Age 86, Brownsburg, died on August 28, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was born in Monessen, PA on Oct. 11, 1924 to Michael and Barbara (Mahovlich) Zoretich. He enrolled at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) before volunteering to join the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He completed pilot training and was a second lieutenant. He returned to Carnegie Tech after the war and completed a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1948. He moved to Indianapolis to begin work for Allison Engine Company. In 1949 he was married to Catherine (Penich) Zoretich, his beloved wife of 53 years who predeceased him in March of 2003. He enjoyed a successful 35 year career with General Motors in divisions in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. He was a member of St. Malachy Church and a former member of St. Gabriel Church. He loved golf, and in retirement worked as a starter at Eagle Creek Golf Course for many years. He is predeceased by his parents, wife, and sisters Anne Zubritsky and Kathryn Plesko. He is survived by his children Michael S. (Shelia) Zoretich, Sharon (Dan) Terry and Susan (Joseph) Lilek, as well as his grandchildren Michael D. Zoretich, William Terry, Scott Terry, Matthew Lilek, and Kristen Lilek. The family wishes to thank the extraordinary staff at Hoosier Village for their kindness to Mike. Calling will be 4-8pm Thurs., Sept. 1, at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, Sept. 2 at St. Malachy Church, Brownsburg.
