Obituary

Michael C. Moyer
Michael was born in Indianapolis on May 5, 1966 and was the son of Donald and Gloria Moyer. Attending Brownsburg High School and Butler University, he earned an AB in Theater. He worked for Stationers as an Assistant Manager in its different incarnations and Corporate Express in telephone sales. But his true love was the theater. He appeared on stage on The Dinner Train, and The Mystery Train; he also sang, acted and directed at The Scottish Rite, Theater on the Square, Civic Theater, The Belfry, Clowes Hall, and Footlite Musicals. He eventually wrote, directed, and starred in productions at Myers Dinner Theater, eventually becoming part of the management of the dinner theater. Michael also became a Thespian co-director of plays and musicals at New Palestine High School alongside his longtime roommate Lynne Cory. His life was filled with music, song, and dance. He received awards for his acting and singing from Civic Theatre and several Encore awards which are given for outstanding work in community theater. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang on several national demo albums and as a soloist at different local venues. He was an avid reader and a huge movie buff. His favorite films were the James Bond movies and he collected much memorabilia from them and his all-time favorite film soundtrack composer was John Barry.
For the past 7-8 years he had major health problems and was in and out of the hospital. In late October 2023, he developed a serious infection with complications. After a month in the hospital, he made the decision to stop fighting. He knew he would never be able to come home again and did not want to go to any other facility. So he entered hospice care on the evening of November 29th and succumbed on November 30th. He is survived by his mother Gloria Moyer, his sister Melinda Moyer, his longtime roommate and friend Lynne Cory and Andy his blonde cocker spaniel. There will be no formal funeral or showing. He requested just a small graveside service with family and close friends. There will be a celebration of life after the holidays on a currently unknown date and location.
