Michael C.
Neibert Jr.
May 28, 1969 – March 9, 2023
Michael Clair Neibert Jr, 53, of Avon passed away on March 9, 2023 after a 17 year battle with brain cancer. Michael was born on May 28, 1969 to Michael and Gloria Neibert in Lafayette, IN and raised in a devout Catholic home. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, he served as a Eucharistic Minister every Sunday.
A 1987 Central Catholic High School graduate, Michael was a natural athlete who excelled in both tennis and baseball and was a varsity letterman in both for the Knights. An avid sports enthusiast who bled black and gold, Michael earned a B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue University. He never missed a home Purdue football game, a family tradition that he proudly continued through the 2022 season. A member of the Purdue President's Council, Michael achieved his goal of traveling to every Big Ten stadium for at least one game. He also had attended every bowl game since 1997 to cheer on his beloved Boilermakers.
By his side during these travels was his high school sweetheart Stephanie Ricks Neibert whom he married on June 13, 1992. They were blessed with one daughter, Elizabeth. A devoted dad, Michael not only coached Elizabeth's softball and basketball teams but also attended every one of her extracurricular events and traveled coast to coast to watch her play club volleyball. Walking her down the aisle at her wedding was one of his life's highlights. Being a granddad was one of his greatest joys.
Michael worked at Simon and Schuster for two years immediately after graduating from Purdue. The remaining 28 years of his career were spent working for Australian Gold. A strong man who valued commitment and perseverance, Michael rarely missed work even when battling cancer.
In his free time Michael enjoyed spending time with his neighbors. Whether it was hitting a hole- in-one, taking trips to the beach, cruising to Alaska, or walking around the neighborhood, he always had a smile if he was with them. Michael was also passionate about his yard and made sure that his property looked immaculate.
Michael is survived by his wife of 30 years Stephanie; daughter Elizabeth Bauer (Joseph); granddaughters Cecilia and Gemma; parents, Michael and Gloria of Lafayette; sisters Michelle Neibert-Levine (Matt) of Seymour and Suzanne Schrock (Steve) of Liberty Township, OH; nieces Peyton Levine, Ellie and Lylah Schrock, and nephew Andrew Levine.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Therese Joann Bauer.
