Nancy Vasileff Snyder Mucha, born June 25, 1942, lived a life defined by love, compassion, dedication, and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the simple joys of life. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to others, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
Nancy was the beloved daughter of Theodore and Aspasia Vasileff, who immigrated to the United States from Northern Greece. Her Greek heritage and family roots were important parts of her life. She was the beloved wife of Joseph M. Mucha, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage. Joseph preceded her in death, and their years together remain a cherished part of her life story. Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, her infant sister, and her beloved brother, Robert T. Vasileff.
Nancy graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1960 and continued her education at Indiana University’s Indianapolis campus that same year. In 1964, she graduated from the Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing, beginning a lifelong commitment to caring for others. In 1991, she furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
A dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse, Nancy devoted more than 50 years of her life to the nursing profession. Throughout her distinguished career, she cared for patients at Marion County General Hospital, later known as Wishard, Methodist Hospital, and Indiana University Hospital. She also worked with several home care companies, providing nursing support and care through office-based positions. For Nancy, nursing was far more than a career; it was a calling that reflected her generous spirit, compassion, and genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Her years of service stand as a testament to her unwavering dedication and the kindness she brought to her work.
Above all, Nancy treasured her family and friends. The relationships she nurtured throughout her life brought her immeasurable joy and were among her greatest blessings. She cherished the time spent together, the conversations shared, the laughter enjoyed, and the countless everyday moments that become treasured memories.
Nancy also found happiness in gardening, her love of cats (Gilbert, Kiki and Slim) and her new found hobby of flower arranging.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her step-daughters, Pamela Mucha, Melinda (Shane) McCaffrey, Cara (Dave) Lowry, and Lisa Mucha; her grandchildren, Lavender and David Joseph; her sister-in-law, Mary C. Vasileff; her niece, Cathe (Ryan) Keen; her nephew, David Vasileff; and her great-nephews, Matthew and Brendan Keen.
May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the same love and beauty she so freely gave to others.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Monday, November 9th at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services to follow at 12 noon. Nancy will then be laid to rest next to her husband in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
