Nicholas Robert
Shipley
September 18, 1986 – February 14, 2018
Nicholas "Nick" Robert Shipley, 31, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 14, 2018. He was born on September 18, 1986 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is survived by his parents Fredrick "Fred" and Ronda Shipley and his grandmother M. Fern Riley. He is also survived by aunts Connie (Mike) Short, Pamela (Ed) Lime, uncles Chuck Riley, Aaron (Rhonda) Shipley, Scott (Gina) Shipley, and many beloved cousins, extended family and friends that he thought of as family. Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Fredrick and Bertha Shipley and his maternal grandfather Charles Riley.
Nick worked for Indy Blasting and was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church. He loved baseball and played on the first Brownsburg baseball team to advance to the Little League World Series. That same team went on to play in three high school state championships winning one, and placing second in two. More important than any championship was the bond of friendship that was created for Nick and most of these young men who will forever be connected. Nick was lovingly referred to as "Ship" by many of his friends. He loved all music and enjoyed attending concerts. He enjoyed racing, particularly the Indianapolis 500, playing golf, softball and outdoor sports. He loved people and was the happiest when he was surrounded by his friends and loved ones. Nick had a beautiful spirit and a wonderful, giving heart. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Nick will be from 3-7pm Monday February 19 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20th at Connection Pointe Christian Church. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, Indianapolis immediately following.
"….And I loved deeper, and I spoke sweeter, and I gave forgiveness I'd been denying. And he said someday I hope you get the chance, to live like you were dying."
