Noel Hatter
89, Avon Indiana, passed into heaven on March 13, 2025. He loved his family with all his heart and was proud of all of them. He is survived by his five children, 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren listed below. Children: Beverly Jinkins (Gary), Deborah Emery, David Hatter (Kristina), Michael Hatter (Rhonda), Donald Brent Hatter (Laura); grandchildren (11 and their spouses) and great grandchildren (20): Tiffany White (Matthew) - Dillan, Jaylin, Jaden, Brooklyn, Harper and Wrenly; Christopher Jinkins (Danielle) - Isabelle and Grant; Brittany Mederios (Kyle) - Elliott, Theodore and Emerson; Ashley Ferree (Evan) - Henry and Hudson; Whitney Barbosa (Tiago) – Sabastian; Joshua Hatter; Michael Hatter (Babbettee) - Wyatt and Georgia; Ryan Hatter (Dana) - Cole and Adalind; Lauren Hatter; Lydia Gray (Jason) - Harrison and Calvin; Logan Hatter. Noel is also survived by his only remaining sister from a family of nine, Carol Bass (Raymond). He is preceded in death by his mother Stella Hatter, grandmother, Sarah Belle Hatter, grandfather Morgie Hatter; sisters Robertine Shirley, Elda Shirley, Genevieve Ball; brothers, Oris Coleman, Darrell Coleman, Revell Coleman, and Justin Coleman.
Noel was an avid sportsman and participant. He coached little league basketball, football, and baseball for many years and was still in touch with some of his players. He loved to fish, camp, gardening, hunt and his chickens. He taught his sons how to fish and hunt when they were just little boys. He enjoyed blue grass music and taking road trips to festivals all over the country. He taught himself how to play the banjo at the age of 60 and was still playing his last few weeks of life. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge in Liberty, KY for over 50 years. Noel was also a member of the Mooresville American Legion, UAW Legion 933, as well as the Murat Temple Shrine. He recently joined Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Wilbur, IN. He was a machinist for Allison Transmission and served in the US Marines from 1953-1956. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Saturday, March 22 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services at 11am. Military honors will follow after the funeral services.
A reception for friends and family will follow immediately after the service at the Grand Hall at Westlake Gardens, 400 N. High School Road Indianapolis, IN 46214. Burial will be at 12 noon Monday March 24 at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN.
