Opal Marie Warren
Brownsburg passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wed. Nov. 28, 2012. She was 91. Opal was born May 21, 1921 in Trader's Point as Opal Marie Delong. She was the daughter of Walter and Hattie Delong. She was one of six children; sisters, Fern "Brunes" Baker, Helen Burns; brothers, James, John, and Fred Delong. She graduated from Pike High School in 1939. Opal married Carl B. Warren in May of 1941. She moved to Brownsburg in 1948. She and Carl had a family of five children. Opal loved to cook! She spent lots of time in the kitchen, sewing and working in her flower beds. Opal made each grandchild and great grandchild a quilt by hand. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Brownsburg Apostolic Bible Church for the past twenty years. Opal was a very friendly and loving woman known to several neighbor kids as Grandma Cookie! Opal was preceded in death by her husband Carl B. Warren; sons, Don T. Warren and Bill L. Warren; great grandchild Caidyn Bugby. Opal is survived by her son Jim Warren; daughters Janet Edwards and Jean Duncan. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and another great granddaughter on the way, due in March. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sun. Dec. 2 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 11 am on Mon. Dec. 3. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
