Regina Mae
Parson
November 10, 1922 – September 8, 2024
Regina Mae (Burns) Parson was called by the angels to heaven at 6 a.m. on 9/8/2024. She passed under the care of IU Health Hospice and was attended and not alone when she took her last breath. She was at peace and without pain.
Regina was the second to the last born of 10 children in her family. She was the last of her generation to pass, and surely was met in heaven by all of them, as well as her daughter.
Regina was the mother of two, Karla Sue (Warren) Throneburg (deceased) and Gary Warren. (There are also many cousins, by the dozens, too many to list the family tree.) Regina loved each and every one. Karla's daughters are Kristi Throneburg and Dawn Gibboney Hickman (Ernie). Kristi's sons are Kristopher, Taylor, and Nicholas Baiers; Dawn's sister, Jaclyn (Jeremy) Nohren and children Wyatt & Josalynn. Dawn's sister, Colleen Cross, is survived by her daughters Kayla Ozolins and Jacey Macy, who visited Regina fairly often. Dawn's husband Ernie's children and their kids are Ryan (Laura) Aspen and son Merrick; Abby (Jake) and their girls Kynley and Oakley; Tiffany and her son Matthew. Which I think means there are great, great, grandchildren. Other family members include step daughter Nancy J. Parson Etienne (Bob); grandchildren and great grandchildren Carol Etienne Cohill, Brent Hopper (deceased), Natalie Fox (Jeremy), Bill Etienne (Jennifer), Leslye Harrell, Carl Etienne (Mandy), Jim Etienne, Ellen Crammer (Tim), Nathan Crammer and Tyler Crammer.
Regina was raised on the Burns Farm which was just north and west from Arbuckle Acres in Brownsburg. Regina was active as Brownsburg Christian Church and taught Sunday School there, when the church still existed on North Green Street, nearby to downtown Brownsburg. After moving to Speedway, she was active in Speedway Christian Church and worked with a number of women's groups therein. She also helped many people to learn to knit and helped with adjusting their projects as needed. Always with patience and love.
Regina had been a square dancer when she was young and when she was in her 80's was still active with friends doing senior line dancing. In her later years her time was spent mostly knitting and napping as she called it, and watching westerns on TV with the volume very loud. She made 100s of prayer shawls or comfort lap blankets which were given to the community, through her church, or dropping them off at nursing homes, or giving them away to family, friends, or to business owners, her doctors, nurses, waitresses, etc. Everybody loved her and she loved them back, and one of the ways was sharing her knitting. This also included hats and scarves that were good for Indiana winters. Many were made and put in the Brownsburg Blessing Boxes each winter. It is easy to see why she was loved by so many. And why she will be so missed.
Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Monday September 16 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 1pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Brownsburg.
