René Marie Hallal

68, of Indianapolis, Indiana died in her home on May 21, 2026. She attended Cardinal Ritter High School and Indiana University. After college graduation, René packed everything she owned into her Chevy Nova, popped Gino Vannelli into the 8-track, and headed to New York City. She went on her own and didn’t have a job lined up yet, but she had talent, ambition, and boundless creativity. Her fearlessness and determination eventually landed her at ABC News Advertising and Promotion, where she spent the bulk of her career as a Senior Producer, even earning a Peabody Award in 2001 and an Emmy in 2009.

Because it wasn’t enough to have a wildly successful career in a world-class city, René taught herself quilting and made all manner of beautiful textiles. There are few among her closest friends and relatives who don’t have a cherished item handmade with love by René.

She is survived by her brother Jeff Hallal, her nieces Stacy Hallal, Alaia Hallal and nephews Jared and Josef Hallal. She is also survived by the Keenes, who were lucky enough to call her family as well. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Greg Hallal, nephew Deryk Hallal, mother Patricia, and father Montez Hallal.

A celebration of René’s life will be held at Daniel’s Vineyard, 9061 N. 700 W., McCordsville, IN 46055, June 24th @ 1pm until 4pm. Because of Rene’s deep love of animals, especially her dogs, the family encourages you to make a donation to your favorite humane society in lieu of sending flowers. The family invites all who knew her to attend the celebration and share their favorite memories.
