Obituary

Richard "Dick" Lentz of Brownsburg, Indiana

Richard "Dick" Lentz, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend, passed away on May 8, 2026. He will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, and the deep care he showed to those around him.

Dick was first and foremost a family man. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 51 years, Ginger, with whom he shared a life built on love, partnership, and commitment. He was a proud and devoted father to his three children, Stacie Woodward (Will), Brian, and Todd (Joe), who were the center of his world. He also leaves behind five grandchildren — Bella, Ava, Aryanna, Bella, and Sebastian — each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Evelyn Lentz of Bloomington, Indiana. He leaves behind a sister, Sharon Schnier (Bob) of Columbus, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1969 and from Indiana University with a B.S. in Recreation with a minor in Botany in 1973. Dick was an Eagle Scout, and after graduation he pursued a career with the Lake Superior Boy Scouts in Superior, Wisconsin. He later went on to work for Public Service Indiana in Noblesville, Indiana.

It was in Brownsburg where Dick truly planted his roots, building a State Farm Insurance Agency serving his community for 45 years with hard work, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people around him. He took pride in his work and the relationships he formed over the years, many of which grew into lasting friendships.

Outside of his professional life, Dick embraced the moments that mattered most. He enjoyed boating, golfing, and traveling — pursuits that reflected his love of the outdoors and his curiosity about the world. Whether on the course, at the water's edge, or exploring new places, he cherished the opportunity to relax and share meaningful moments with family and friends.

To his friends, Dick was loyal, kind, and dependable — someone you could always count on. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.

He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.

A casual Celebration of Life will be held in the pavilion at West Chase Golf Course in Brownsburg, Indiana on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
