Obituary

Richard Patrick McKenna was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 25, 1953 and passed
away on February 1, 2023 at 69 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents William
and Mary Louise (Connelly) McKenna. He is survived by his brothers, William McKenna
(Sharon), Robert McKenna and James McKenna (Carol) and his sister, Barbara McKenna
Wiegand (Bruce). He was a devoted father to his daughters: Brooke (McKenna) Green Molin
and grandchildren, Thomas, Hunter and McKenna Green and Sage Molin; and Brianne
(McKenna) Antonas (Michael) and grandchildren, John Tyler and Alexis Jo.

Dick was the loving, life partner of Jonni Gonso and a dedicated extended family member to
her children and grandchildren: Christopher Gonso (Grace) Walden, Adelle, and William;
Matthew Gonso (Gretchen) Henry, Susie and Gracie; and Sara Gonso Tait (Matthew) Madeline,
Elliott and Charlotte who they fondly referred to as "Dickels." Dick's patience, mentorship and
friendship was treasured by all.

Dick attended Mt. Lebanon High School and Hillsdale College. He owned a successful dental
lab before following his interests and becoming a licensed Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) and certified United States Tennis Association (USTA) official. In addition to his
enjoyment of playing sports of all kinds, he had a passion and talent for organizing softball,
basketball and tennis leagues. Dick and his tennis teammates won a USTA National
Championship as well as second and third place finishes over the years. His latest passion was
promoting the sport of pickleball. He tirelessly gave time and effort introducing, teaching and
coaching the game. Dick enjoyed connecting people and building community through sports.
The family expresses their gratitude to Bridgewater Healthcare Center for providing care and
comfort for Dick for his final journey. Dick passed peacefully while being lovingly attended by
his life partner, Jonni. Celebration of Life will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm Sunday, March 19 at

the Carmel Racquet Club, 225 E. Carmel Dr., Carmel, IN 46032.  Wear tennis shoes!
