Obituary

Richard H Wisniewski, 95, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025 at his daughter's home in Brownsburg, IN.

He was born in Pittsburgh PA in 1929 to Joseph Wisniewski and Anna Kobus Wisniewski. He had many happy memories of growing up on Herron Hill, working in the butcher shop and roaming the streets of Pittsburgh. Later in his childhood, his family lived on a farm in the Erie area before returning to Pittsburgh (the Millvale area), where he graduated from North Catholic High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He started work at St Regis Paper Company in the accounting department. He then served in the Marines during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he returned to work at St Regis in the sales department where he worked for 45 years through several company buyouts and eventually retired from Georgia Pacific.

Richard met his wife Virginia in Pittsburgh. They were married October 3, 1959, and were happily married for 61 years. In 1965 they moved to Grafton, West Virginia where they raised their three children. Richard lived in Grafton until 2021 when he moved to Avon, Indiana to be closer to family.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. For many years he was an active member of the Elks in Grafton West Virginia. He was very active at St Augustine's Catholic Church in Grafton, WV, where he served for many years on the Parish Council. After moving to Avon, IN he became a member of St Malachy Catholic Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and went on many trips abroad and throughout the United States.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his brothers Henri and Raymond Wisniewski and sister Virginia Zbikowski.

He is survived by his daughter Maria Bandy (Steven), sons Richard Wisniewski (Jamie) and Joseph Wisniewski (Elizabeth) and eight grandchildren.

Richard was a devoted and supportive father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be celebrated at St Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg IN at 10 am, Friday, January 17 2025

Interment will follow at 1pm Saturday January 18th at St Stanislaus Cemetery, (Holy Family Mausoleum), Pittsburgh PA.
