Ricky Keith Daugherty of Clayton, Indiana, went to be with his Savior on Resurrection Day, March 31, 2024. He was welcomed home with Open Arms by his Lord, his Mom, and his son, Jacob. Rick was born on August 2, 1961, in Indianapolis to John and Loretta Daugherty. He was a long-time member of Faith Baptist Church of Avon. Rick was a proud graduate of Cascade High School where he was a gifted athlete and played basketball all four years. He was a talented point guard with a great shot and known for his ball handling skills. Rick continued his basketball career at Vincennes University and graduated with a degree in Engineering. Rick followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a Senior Design Engineer at Allison Transmissions. He was a skilled engineer and was awarded several patents on his many projects. After 35 years of employment, he retired. Rick's continued love for basketball was handed down to all three of his sons as he coached them at both the Junior High and Youth levels. He was also an instrumental part of the Mill Creek Optimist Basketball League for years and was key in starting up the Indy Hoops Program at Cascade. Rick was awarded for his dedicated leadership and service to these youth organizations. He also enjoyed golfing and was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan. Rick had a vibrant personality filled with a great sense of humor and his very generous, giving heart. He loved his family very much and will greatly be missed by them all. He was preceded in death by his mother Loretta Daugherty and his son Jacob Daugherty. Survivors include his father John Daugherty and his sons Ricky Daugherty and Joshua (Meghan) Daugherty; sisters Rhonda Bradley and Rachelle (Dean) Brewer; grandchildren Kenley Daugherty, Jacob Daugherty, Sophia Halsey, Ava Dale; nephews Jonathan Bradley, Benjamin Bradley, Johnny Brewer; niece Gloria Brewer. Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church, 3860 East Main Street, Danville, Indiana from 10:00 to 12:00 on Saturday. April 6, 2024 with the service at noon. Burial will follow at the Clayton Cemetery.
