Rita O. Cross

Born in Lindsey, Ohio to Ella (Lehr) and Clarence Karchner July 9, 1923. Rita passed away in Beech Grove, IN May 16, 2023 at 99+ years of age. She was the loving wife of Earl B. Cross for 63 years at his passing in 2008. She was the loving mother to Kathleen, David, and Joseph Cross, Helen James, Monica Kubick, Rita Miller, and Margaret Cornwell. She is preceded in death by her children Michael Cross and Mary Stephenson. She is survived by her one sister Loretta Bocast, and many nieces and nephews. She was a loving grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 13. Rita was a 1945 graduate of Mary Manse College in Toledo, OH and taught for one year. Later in life she was a substitute teacher for several years. She loved to garden, sew, and needle craft when she wasn't traveling or enjoying camping and other adventures with her family. Rita was a long term member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Brownsburg, IN. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am Sat. May 20 at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, with funeral mass there at 11am. Burial will be at St. Malachy Cemetery in Brownsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Malachy Catholic Church or the charity of one's choice.
