Robert E. Brock
86, Brownsburg, died June 4, 2011. Bob was born on October 31, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ray and Inah Brock. He and his grade-school sweetheart, Jo Ellen Brooks, were married for 65 years.
Bob attended elementary and high school in Indianapolis and upon leaving high school in 1942, he joined the Navy where he proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy Seabees for three years. During that time, he served at Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands, Pearl Harbor, Saipan and Okinawa. He returned to the states in January 1946 and was married to Jo.
Bob retired from Indianapolis Newspapers Incorporated in 1986 after 24 years of service to the company. Early in Mr. Brock's marriage, he was employed at Central Supply and helped introduce Reynolds Wrap to the public. He had worked for Allstate insurance in Albuquerque, New Mexico as well.
Bob was a longtime member of Cornerstone Christian Church in Brownsburg where he worked in the tape ministry for 19 years. Survivors include wife Jo Ellen Brock; children Sherry East(Bill),Roger Brock (Jeanne), Richard Brock (Betty) and Leslie Sims (Scott), 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his sister and a grandson. Funeral services will be 10 am June 8th at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with visitation there June 7th from 4-8 pm. Burial will be at Brownsburg Cemetery.
