Robert Emmet Rarey
88, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away June 24, 2013. Bob was born September 16, 1924 in Belfrey, Montana, the son of Benjamin A. and L. Pearl Hall Rarey. The family moved to Greentown, Indiana when he was a child. Bob attended Union Township, Onward, Indiana elementary schools and graduated from Kokomo High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Bob also served in the U. S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve for over 35 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. His working career was spent in the transportation industry, including J. I. Case Corporation, Mayflower, Bekins, Wheaton and Lion Van Lines. Bob was active in Kokomo High School Alumni, class of 1942, the American Legion Post 331, Marine Corp League and the Marine Air Group, Grissom USAF retired. Visitation will be at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, from 4-8 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2013 with memorial services there at 11am on Friday, June 28th. Burial will be at 3:30 pm at the Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery in Reelsville, Indiana. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Bonewits Rarey, children Dan Rarey, John Rarey (Darlene), Susan Rarey, Joseph Ray (Julie), Daniel Ray (Sharon), Kristine Mason (Rick), Nancy "Robin" Ryan, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Louise Hamm and several nieces and nephews.
