Obituary

Roberta Ann Graham (née Ratliff) passed away on February 20, 2024, in Brownsburg, Indiana, at the age of 89. She was born on August 15, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Clarence and May Ratliff. Roberta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Roberta was a loving and caring individual who dedicated her life to her family and community. She enjoyed singing, teaching, traveling, and helping others. Her passion for music led her to pursue an education at Curtis Institute of Music, a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and a Master of Music from Butler University.

In her career, Roberta served as a Vocal Instructor at Indiana Wesleyan College in Marion, IN, and Taylor University in Upland, IN. She also shared her musical talents as a Music and Choral Teacher for the Wayne Township School Corporation.

Roberta was an active member of the Lizton United Methodist Church. She was deeply involved in various organizations, including the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Women's Committee, Indianapolis Opera Guild, Harmonie Opera Study Club, Indianapolis Matinee Musical, Indiana University School of Music Alumni Association, Tri Kappa, Brownsburg Rotary Club, and the Brownsburg Police Commission.

She is survived by her loving husband, James G. Graham, her sons Bruce (Julie) Graham and Richard (Angela) Graham, her grandchildren Brent, Brian, Kathryn (Drew) Koning, Audrey (Wesley Coolbaugh), Claire (Mitchell) Moore, and William, as well as her great-grandson Asher Koning. Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Clarence, her mother, May, her brothers Lee, Charles, and Don Ratliff, and her sisters Clara Zerbe and Cordelia Collings.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Roberta's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Matthews Mortuary, 690 East 56th Street, Brownsburg, IN 46112. Calling will be from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a memorial service and interment at Lizton K of P Cemetery.

Roberta will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
