Williams
March 29, 1944 – January 16, 2024
Roger J. Williams, 79, passed away January 16, 2024. He was born to Jay and Lois Williams. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving from 1962 to 1966. Before becoming a Marine, Roger started work at the early age of 13 in his father's gas station and at his construction company. His main occupation, however, was as a construction foreman for Blakeley's Corporation.
Roger loved attending the Indy 500, sitting in the top row of the Tower Terrace for decades. He never missed a race. He particularly enjoyed running in the Indianapolis Mini Marathon for decades too, lastly competing in 2014 at the age of 70. Snowmobiling and bicycling were passionate hobbies of his. He had a great love of animals, which constituted spending significant time at Eagle Creek Park, even in his final days. He loved the outdoors and took great care of his lawn, spending many hours grooming it to perfection leaving no stick unturned or blade of grass too tall.
Roger is survived by his siblings, Bill Williams, Kay Williams and Jim (Jenny) Williams; his daughter Angela Hehnen, 3 grandchildren - Amber Ryan, Leevon Ryan, and Tommy Hehnen; and 5 great grandchildren; 8 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 11 am -1 pm, service at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 24th at Gospel Grace Baptist Church 7300 St. Rd 267 Fayette. Burial to follow in West Ridge Park.
