Sally Owen Atkinson Lutes

Age 88, originally from Brownsburg, Indiana living in Linden, Indiana, passed away October 5, 2026. Sally was preceded in death by her mother Kathryn Strickler Owen; father Virgil Owen Sr.; sister Nancy Hardwick; brother Virgil Owen Jr.; and first husband Joseph Atkinson. Sally is survived by her husband of 21 years Chester LaVerne Lutes; son Scott (Karen) Atkinson; grandchildren Lacey (Cameron) Trusty; Scott Jr. (Jessica) Atkinson and great grandchildren Theodore and Roman Atkinson. Sally had a love for dancing that started off in her younger years rollerskate dancing. That evolved into ballroom dance and many other kinds of dance. She was a member of the Continettes Dance Club and the Continental Dance Club of Indianapolis where she enjoyed sharing the dance floor with her dance partner-husband LaVerne Lutes. Admired for her joyful elegance, Sally performed frequently with others at nursing homes and other venues around Central Indiana. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th from 11 am to 1 pm at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services to follow at 1 pm. Sally will then be laid to rest in Brownsburg Cemetery.
