Obituary

Sandra Sue Hays Ferguson passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2024, after fighting a battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent surrounded by her family and close friends. Known for her kindness and hosting family dinners Sandy will be missed by all that knew her.

While working as a teacher she obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Butler University in 1974.  After retirement, Sandy enjoyed going to lunch with her many friends, going to the movies with her special friend Bill, attended her grand-daughter's soccer games and working out at Curves with her friends.

She is survived by her daughters Amanda Ferguson-Macy (Christopher) and Rachel Ferguson, grand-daughters Alexandria Macy and Cassidy Elder (Charles). She is preceded in death by her husband of 26 years Allen Ferguson and her parents Harold Hays and Ruth Esra Hays. She will be missed by her sisters Linda Jones (Jon) and Sally Thompson (Denny) along with her nieces Stephanie, Kimberly her son Drew and Sarah (Megan). She was preceded in death by her nephew Anthony. She will be fondly missed by her special friend Bill Coan.

All friends and family are welcomed to attend the visitation from 12-2 pm Monday, December 9 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services there at 2 pm.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Brownsburg Cemetery.

Sandy's family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing away. Her request at the end of her life was to keep it simple. In lieu of flowers, she request that donations be made in her memory to the Hendricks County Animal Shelter.  Sandy's Family would like to thank the staff at the Hendricks County Hospital Transfusion Center, IU Simon Cancer Center, Brownsburg Meadows and Life's Journey Hospice.
